Rhonen & Serene

Just before Rhonen turned 3, we went to a birthday party for another little girl named Johanna. Johanna was also turning 3 and her parents rented a huge bounce house for the party. It was a beautiful spring night and the kids were having a blast! Now Johanna has an older sister named Serene who is 4 1/2. Serene and Rhonen have always played well with each other whenever they are together.

About half way into the party, Serene's mother Sarah was looking for her eldest daughter all through the party. She finally went into the house and found her bedroom door to be shut. So she opened it only to find Rhonen & Serene, together....hugging :)

Rhonen turns 3!

It's hard to believe, but our baby Rho is now a big boy 3 years old! On his birthday we surprised him with a state of the art kitchen. He loves to help us in the kitchen and really enjoys cooking with Dustin. So we splurged on his gift, and wow! it was worth every penny. He was thrilled to uncover his gift.

 After lunch with Dustin and Jackson, I took the boys to our favorite park! We played for a while and enjoyed the beautiful day.

Rhonen is blossoming before us into a little boy. I can say that he is no longer a baby and is leaving toddler hood quickly behind him. He will  be starting preschool for a summer session in June and then back in August for the regular school year. We couldn't be more proud of our son! He is a sweet child, a loving brother, and an insightful, adventurous boy! Happy Birthday Rhonen.

Easter Egg Hunt 2012

What a fun Easter it was this year! Jackson was able to help finding our eggs and presents...I'm pretty sure he loved it! And Rhonen of course took on the big brother role and showed him the ropes :) We had a wonderful Easter dinner with Grandpa complete with honey ham, scalloped potatoes, asparagus, and wine!

The true beauty of having children is that they are yours, a piece of you, to relive all the wonders of life through a child's eyes.

Egg Dying

This year we let Rhonen help with the egg dying task on Easter Eve. He did great and really liked it! Then after he went to bed, Dustin and I made egg monsters from some of our creations :)

Living Green

There are so many reasons I love living in Chico, but one of the most valuable reasons, is our ability to live sustainably. It's very important to us to reduce our "family footprint" on this earth...hence our decision to plant fruit trees and vegetable gardens, buy local and only what's in season, raise chickens, compost, and our latest addition...drive a Prius :) These decisions will directly impact Rhonen & Jackson and I hope more individuals will evaluate how they can contribute to saving and preserving our beautiful earth. .http://www.earthday.org/
