First steps and screaming

Hallelujah!!! Rhonen took his first unassisted steps today. He's been taking one step for a few days now but today he took about three steps before he plopped on his butt. It's amazing how fast these developments happen. Two weeks ago he could barley walk while he was holding our hands and now he's well on his way to being a walker!

On the other hand...he's been screaming a lot lately (not so proud of that one). I don't know if he's doing it for attention or he's trying to communicate, but let me tell ya it's not cute. It's ear piercing and obnoxious. I'm sure this too shall pass, but for the mean time, I don't like it!

First Haircut

Rhonen's hair was getting so long that I could no longer keep it out of his eyes...so we gave him a hair cut. I was excited at first and then with the first cut I quickly wished I could glue it back on. But we continued even against Rhonen's wishes...he hated the clippers! Dustin took over the cutting and I tried to comfort him. In about five minutes it was over and his beautiful baby hair was on the floor. He looks much older now but he's still my sweet baby boy.

What a relaxing vacation! The weather was perfect and the park wasn't too crowded. Rhonen loved being outside and tried many new tastes...dirt, leaves, rocks, sticks (you know...the usual:) It's nice to get away from the daily grind...there was no cell phone or internet service the entire trip so you start to get creative with your time.

14 Weeks Along

10 Months Old

Ten months old...can you believe it? He is growing so fast! Thank goodness for this blog to help me keep track of his developments. So...the top two teeth are in and they are big! No wonder it was such an ordeal for him. We'll see how many more teeth pop up in the next few months. Another big change is Rhonen will now let go of whatever he is hanging on to while standing. He puts his little hands out to balance and then eventually falls. It just one more little step towards walking. He hasn't picked up any more words but we're sure he knows that WE are mama and dada.

On Sunday we are leaving for a family trip to Yosemite...I can't wait. I've never been and for some reason I feel guilty about that. I've lived in California all my life, why haven't I been to Yosemite?! Well that's about to be fixed :) I wish I could say we going to camp but the truth is...I'm just not that brave. It's cold and we have a 10 month old. Reason enough. So we're staying in a hotel with a jacuzzi tub...sounds more like it. It should be a great trip and I'll post some pictures when we return.

Rhonen's Big News

Rhonen wanted to tell all our friends and family that he is going to be a big brother!Yeah!!! We're expecting our second child in September and couldn't be more thrilled. It's been a rough couple of months but I'm starting to feel better. I had my first ultrasound today and baby looks great. I'll post some belly shots soon.

One Year

Yesterday was our one year wedding anniversary! I was remembering how the storm rolled in early in the morning foiling our plans for an outdoor ceremony. I remember all of our friends and families working so hard to create a beautiful day. I was seven months pregnant with Rhonen and it took some time to find a dress that was just right. I thought I would be nervous but when the ceremony began it was effortless. They say when it rains on your wedding day it will bring good luck...so far it has. We have a wonderful son and so many exciting moments to forward to.
