Roll Over

I have been working with Rhonen all week on rolling over and today...he did it! First he rolled from his tummy to his back all by himself. The second time he was in bed with Dustin so he had a slight advantage, but nonetheless he rolled from his back to his tummy. We are so proud of him! I told him if he was older and knew how to celebrate we would be getting cake or ice cream, but for now I just gave him a ton of kisses.

Playtime Pics

Fun New Toy

We got Rhonen a activity gym last week because he seemed to be ready for a new toy. When we first set it up and put him down on to the mat, he was a little overwhelmed. The whites of his eyes could be seen from across the room! So we took down most of the toys along the bars and now he is much happier. Some of the baby toys are designed to stimulate all of the senses at once, which seems like it would be sensory overload for a baby. So we are going to slowly add the toys back one at a time, so he can get used them. For now he is content with his musical sun! I think the little coughs are his attempt at laughter because he has been doing it a lot lately.

9 Weeks Old

Rhonen had his 2 month check up today. The doctor said he is doing really well. He is growing physically and developmentally right on schedule.

Weight: 12 pounds 15 ounces
Height: 23 inches
Head Circumference: 40 cm

Luckily for us, he doesn't have another visit for two more months. The doctor's office is not his favorite place!

Lazy Summer Days

Last weekend I took Rhonen to my friend Amy's house to relax by her pool. It wasn't too hot and he really seemed to like being outside. There were so many new things for him to look at, including three cute dogs. I am getting more confident when I am taking him out. Mostly it is a formula of making sure he is full and dry before we go anywhere. Of course, that doesn't always work. He is still the dictator! But for the most part, he is happy to go along for the ride. We want him to be a good traveler so the more outings we can go on the better. I want to take him to Sacramento to see my family, but it might be another month before he is ready for that trip. Each day he is becoming more interactive, I love it!

Close Up

I took these pictures the other night before he went to sleep. He changes more and more every day. He looks so much like Dustin, especially that chin! I had to put a little mitten on his hand because of his nails... and I thought it would be a fitting tribute to Michael Jackson! Rhonen is a very physical baby. He loves to stand and does it very well. I only stabalize him, he bears almost all of his weight on his own! And he is starting to be more vocal which is a lot of fun. We've been talking to him a lot and now he is talking back. Sometimes my days feel like they are in slow motion and other times they feel like the blink of an eye. I am so thankful that I have this precious time to spend with him because I know it will go so fast!

Too Cool

Grandma bought him these for the summer...watch out girls!

Rhonen's first wedding...

Last weekend Rhonen and I went to his first wedding reception. Dustin had to work so it was just the two of us and Grandpa Steve. It was held at our friend Helen's house, the same place Dustin & I got married! Unfortunately it was incredibly hot and we had to stay inside for most of the party. Then Rhonen got some gas bubbles and it went downhill from there. He has never cried so hard in his short life. It was awful to watch! Luckily I had Grandpa there to help and there were several mom's and grandma's who offered their support. Looking back, he seemed little unsure from the beginning. But he sure looked cute in his little Hawaiian shirt!
